My hometown

I was born in Palmerston North. Palmerston North is one of my favorite places to go because most of my loving family lives there, like my grandma's uncles, aunts, grandads and cousins. I have many memories in Palmerston North, like my first words.  Palmerston North was also not as big as Auckland so moving here was a shocker. I also didn't like moving. When my family and I moved, I felt that I had to reset. I had to leave all my family and friends. I knew I would always get to see my family again but my friends was another plan. At first I didn't like Auckland because how big it was and how far away it was from Palmerston North. It has now been three years, I have taken baby steps to getting more use to living here. I now have other friends. I am also happy again.

Five shinning students

Tama, Moko, Iraia, Nastazia and I are the five students who participated from my class in the Ruapotaka festival. We were the oldest in the group so we carried a lot of responsibility and role modeling for the little kids. We all gave it our best and tried our hardest. We were 1/16 groups performing on stage.

The end!!!!!

Today was the last day of hiphop, yes, I know, unfortunately its nearly the end of the term which means its the end of hip hop. I just want to say thank you to my school coach Issy for teaching us those dances. You have put effort and time into teaching us, we are all grateful to have you here. I wish we had more time with you. It was a pleasure taking classes with you. I hope we made you proud.

Why now?

So, today I got 87%. I'm kinda going crazy because I only got 85% on my test, but now my basic facts want to improve. I'm still happy with my score. 87% is the highest i've ever gotten on prototec. I think I can do better. I hope I do better and try harder next year.

I am proud to be Maori

I participated in the first ever Ruapotaka cultural Maori festival on the 24th of Nov. We participated in the feastival because we were proud of our culture and wanted to show it. Our group name was Wairereo. We sang songs and also did a haka. I was absolutely proud to be a Maori that day. I was nervous at first to go on stage but I got around to it. All the lunchtime practices paid off.

The leap of faith

Today I played 3 sticks with my good friends Tatia and Paerau. You can play three sticks with, well three sticks and some fellow friends. You have to jump over the three sticks with three leaps, if you touch the sticks or run out of leaps then your eliminated. The last person who jumps over the sticks have to move the last stick they leaped over to where they landed. The last person standing wins.

Etching - Art

About a week ago my class and I made some art called etching. I made this art with paint, paper and a popsicle stick. My theme was old memories because in my memories I had fun times and I wanted to make this art fun. I picked going to the beach and my nans house while taking photos to remember. I had to divide my page into three. Then I had to paint it using different colours if paint in the three divided places, I used orange, red and light green. Once that coat of paint was dried I had to paint another coat on it, that time I used yellow, gold and blue. While the second coat drying I had to draw on it with the popsicle stick.

Hip hop that pop #2

Walt: describe our hip hop dance lesson 2.

Today my class and I went to a hip hop session in our school hall. I wasn't at hip hop last week because I was at a wedding, so I was new to this. The coach started us up with a warm up. the warm up was fun, it made me want to do more.

When the warm up was done we played a little game of paper, scissors, rock but with hip hop moves. For rock we had to squat  down on the floor. For scissors you had to fold your arms together. Lastly for paper you had to spread your arms out.

Later after that we played another game where you had to do different moves while you run. Everyone was getting sweaty and it smelled like BO. It was kinda funny and embarrassing when my team ran because we didn't know what we were doing.

Lately the couch told us how to do tutting. Tutting is when you do dance moves but with your fingers.

It's a teams effort

Picture (of project):

This term my group of four Meliana, Eden, Laina and I made this project.
Our inquiry investigation question was investigate different types of
earthworms in New Zealand.First, we used the internet to research our topic.
Then we constructed this project. We all helped with the project.
Not one of use did only one thing. We used a box, tape, coloured paper
, paper, pencils, colouring pencils, dirt and a stapler. The easy thing
was getting the box. The difficult thing was that one of our teammates
was at sports camp and making the worms was not as easy as we thought it was.
This helped with my learning by working as a team and learning more about
worms from the research.   I would like to investigate about what kind of liquids
can make different types of reactions.

Birthday Boy - setting

Video

In Korea war broke out in a small village in 1951. The village was torn
to bits and was also deserted. This village was not friendly at all,
in fact the village was an extremely lonely and terrifying place.
It looked like a unfinished project that you would see in a historica
l museum. Pieces of broken planes were scattered everywhere.
Many houses were destroyed and burnt from the bombs.
Some of the only things you could hear were crows chirping,
silence and planes flying above in the sky getting ready for war.
The only thing that looked good was the railway tracks that trains
would take and bring tanks for war.

A day to remember

Daffodil Day

Today it is daffodil day in NZ. In my school two teachers had cancer. Siaosi Tongillava was one of the teachers who past away from cancer. Whae Emily was also one of the teachers who past away from cancer.

Today we are here to remember our love ones who past away from cancer.

Maths T3W6 Fraction Game

I was playing a game of matching fractions with decimals and percentages.
I had match 34/100 and a picture that showed the diagram,
decimal, percentage and fraction. This game was easy for me
because I know my fractions, decimals and percentages.
Next , I would like to learn mixed fractions.

Did you know that there is no such thing as rubbish? - My Speech.

My Speech.
Did you know that there is no such thing as rubbish in GI? Did you know that rubbish does not exist? Kia ora, tolo falava, bonjour, preevet and hi my name is La’Shae and I firmly believe that there is no such thing as rubbish in the world. I’ll give you some reason why.

There is no such thing as rubbish because everything is reusable, right? just think about it , fruit scraps can be composed to help soil to be more rich in nutrients. When you compost your fruit scraps the fruit scraps decompose and fertilizes the soil giving it nutrients to help plants grow. Just because you composted your fruit scraps you made the world a better place, good job on you, well the people who compost.

My Aunt loves gardening and she's a vegan. She loves to plant lemons, strawberries, cabbage and many other things. She also composts her fruit scraps. She's an environment superhero in my eyes.

When you recycle your reusing cardboard and anything to do with plastic. If you recycle we don't need to cut down more trees and forests. Just imagine the world without any trees and all the animals dying because of it, to me that's just unfair. If we don’t start recycling now our planet will slowly start to die. If there is no more trees in the world , we all might well will die because of the lack of oxygen. Oxygen helps us stay alive.

I’m not sure about your Mum but I know my Mum can get mad if someone in my house puts something in the wrong bin.

I hope I persuade you that there is no such thing as rubbish.

Were going on a food trip

Last week my class and I went on a trip to a local store in New Zealand called Pak'nsave. We met a lady called Adele, she gave us a paper and told us to full it in. We had to write the nutrition information for octional and everyday foods for dairy products, snacks and ect. We had an hour to fill the sheet in. After we were done we handed in our papers then got gifts from Adele.

Monday 6 August 2018

The whole reason?

The whole reason for the Heart foundation program was to eat more healthier and know what foods to get. Thanks to Adele from the Heart foundation I know how to read the nutrition information on foods.

Food for thought - 31 July

Food for thought - 3 July

Today a person from the heart foundation called Adele came to my school to teach my class about food, a bit about the body and what's good for you. She came to my class because she heard that we were baking a lot of the time.

Adele asked many questions like “Does anyone play any types
of sport?” or questions about food and what happens to your
body. Adele had cards with her and put them on the whiteboard.
Some of the cards had words like milk, bones, fruits and
vegetables, mussels and many more. She told us
what kind of food was good for the human body
and what wasn’t.

After that she split us into groups of 2-4 and gave us big cards
with different cereal brands then told us to look at the
nutrition information at per 100g. We got numbered
1-4 because we had to call out numbers on the
nutrition information like if Adele called out “Honey three
energy.” that person had to call
out the number of the energy on per 100g.

Sadly Adele had to leave because the morning tea bell rang.
I can’t wait to see Adele again on Thursday to learn more
about food.

Basic Facts T3W1

Today I have remained the same because I think I need to
improve on my Sqrs, Roots, factors and fractions and percentages.
I will learn my Sqrs, Roots, factors and fractions and percentages
by learning them at home and keep asking questions about them.
