Big family (summer learning journey day 3 week 1)

Big family

In the 1800s, most families had a big family im talking about seven to nine kids. Today i'm going to be talking about the time when I was living in a house with about seven other kids.

One year ago I was living with my 2 brothers, 5 cousins, my niece, my aunt, my uncle and my Mum and Dad thats a lot of people can you do the maths?

The house we were living in had three bedrooms one of them were my Mums and Dads room they got the medium sized room . The second one was my uncles and aunts room they got the biggest sized room. And my oldest cousin, (age 18) his girlfriend and my baby niece had the smallest sized room. I know what you're thinking where do all the other kids sleep? Well i'm kinda embarrassed to say but we slept in the lounge. There were pros and cons about sleeping in the lounge like you have to share a single bed with like three kids and they would always talk so it was hard to go to sleep. The pros about sleeping together is that you will always feel safe.

When there was a cleaning job to do like doing the dishes, folding the washing, hanging the washing and cleaning up the ground it was really easy because there were so many of us kids so we would take shifts cleaning or we would all clean together.

Playing games was one of my favorite things to do when you have a big family. You can play many games like go home stay home, bang, zip, somakalo, hide and go seek and my old favorite tag.  When you have a big family it's more fun when your playing games the more the merrier right?

leave a comment if you want to know more about my big family life. I have a question for you have you ever lived in a big family before? Leave your answer in the comment section down below.

DAA DAA DAAAA THE END (of Homework club)

DAA DAA DAAAA THE END               (of Homework club)

What did I enjoy about Homework club?
I enjoyed the extra learning, the extra blogging and the extra time finishing of school work.
In class were not allowed to sit together with friends but we are allowed to sit with friends
at the homework club. If we find ourselves stuck the mentors help us they are a very impotent part of our homework club.

How did I benefit from some learning?
I learnt more about digital time and analog time.  I learnt more about how to improve in my speech.

Would I like the Homework club to continue next year?
Yes i would.  Being at this homework club i have been doing more blogging and I have been learning more about time.  Kids in homework club have more time to finish off their work and can learn more about time and many other things.

Why Halloween should be banned.

Why Halloween should be banned.

I think that we shouldn't celebrate Halloween, it should be banned in NZ because little kids can get kidnapped and stolen, if I had kids I wouldn't want them to be kidnapped or stolen.

When we celebrate Halloween, we are celebrating the Devil's birthday and darkness.  I go to church on Sundays and I don't want to celebrate the darkness or the Devil's birthday.

I have to admit Halloween is scary, if you're little you may get nightmares, and you may think your house is haunted I have to admit again it happened to my little cousin.

For all these reasons stated above I think we shouldn't celebrate Halloween.

(What do you think? Should Halloween be banned or should we still celebrate it?)

Slugs, snails and worms

Slugs, Snails and worms.

Today my class and I went out gardening with volunteers form
St Kens school. St Kentigern is a private school in Auckland.  When we got to the garden my teacher sent the boys to Rm10's garden box, then she sent the girls to do the dirty work (literally) she sent us to do the weeds. Some of the girls didn't like it at first but they got over it. When we were doing the weed's this boy Sam loosened the weeds with a big fork (no not a eating fork) so that we could pull the weeds out of the soil. In the time we were weeding we saw slugs, snails and worms (there are photos down below of the slugs, snails and worms).  It started raining so we went back inside. It was fun gardening I would love to do it again.

In The Holidays

In The Holidays

In the holidays I went to East coast to see my family and to also go to see my cousin's 21st, my other cousins 18th and my cousin's girlfriends 19th.

At the East coast we went swimming in the river and I put up and made tent's so that me and my family could sleep in them.

One week past and it was my cousin's and my cousin's girlfriends birthday. There was cake, presents and alot of people .

The best part of my holiday was going to my Nan's house and seeing the view the view was a million dollar view (well that's what I thought the view cost).

I think that the East coast is a good place to go for a holiday or for a honeymoon.

(My holiday was incredible comment down below what did you do in the holiday)

Harold

Harold

Today I went to see Harold the giraffe.  We talked
about the human body, and that our liver stores and
sorts our food. We also learnt about our
brains and that our brain sends messages all
around our body to all of our organs.
To tell us about our body parts the lady at Harold put a body on a big white board and she called the body BOB.
BOB had no skin, only the inside of his body showed.
She showed us most of our organs and told as about them.
At the end she gave us some books to fill in.
I think the Harold truck is one of the best places to learn about
our body parts.
(Here is a picture of BOB)

Vector

Vector

Vector is a company that tell's kids like me
about electricity and how to be safe around it.
Vector is also a company that fixes electricity things like
zone substation, electricity lines,
transformers no not tranformer (not ROBOT IN DISGUISE)
and many other electric things.

A few weeks ago Vector came to my school
and told the class (Rm10) and I about how to be safe around
electricity.  The woman who told us about electricity
said that we have 70% of water in our bodies
she said that electricity loves water and
that it likes to jump into it. After
she asked us a question and she said that "If electricity loves water
and loves to jump into it what will happen if it jumps into us?"
That made me think what would happen.
I raised up my hand and said
"It will electrocute us and we might die."
Then the woman gave a sticker and said you're right

At the end of the show the woman gave
us some books and pencils.
(Heres the book)

Homework Club (Clock Work)

Homework Club (ClockWork)

At the homework club we were learning about Analogue time.
We learnt how to set the analogue clocks to the
right time and how to add on to the time.
At the Homework club I learnt more about time
and that's good I feel more confident if someone asks me a question
about analogue time.
(If someone asks me a question about analogue time)
Eg: Sith: If it is 5 o'clock where would the small hand and the long hand be?
Me:The small hand will be on the 5 and the big hand
would be on the 12
(Here is a photo of the Homework club)

Lever at Work

Auckland Zoo

Auckland Zoo

It was Monday 7 of August 2017 when room 10,12,6 and some kids from room 11 went on a zoo trip.  First the bell rang we all sat on the mat with our bags. The class and I stood up and lined up near the front door waiting for Mr Ramkolowan to open it. We walked through the hallway and out the door near the toilet and onto the joueurs were room 12,11 and 6 are. Not to long the buses arrived so everyone walked loudly out the school gate and onto the bus.

After we arrived at the zoo one adult named John greeted us and told us to line up in two lines. He leaded us to the Red Panda the first animal we saw that was in the entrance of the zoo. The Red Panda’s habitat looked like a forest it had trees and a little wooden bankeny for him (or her) to lay and sit on. The Red Panda was a ginger red colour with a black snout and paws with a little bit of white on it’s legs and ears.

Later we meet John’s twin brother Frazer they told us that “The quieter you are the more animals you will see”.  We were so quiet when John and Frazer were talking to us a Peacock walked pass to say hello. John told the class and I would go with kirsty to see some Tuataras.

Next we saw some Kias. The Kias habitat was like a rainforest on a mountain. There was a waterfall in the Kias habitat and lots of trees.  Did you know that Kias are endangered (endangered means not that many left) the colours of the Kias feathers are green, yellow and a grey colour.

As we walked through the zoo we saw many animals like the Lion, Zebra, Tiger, Whoi bird (or duck), Giraffe, Ostrich, Kangaroo, Elephants, Turtle, Seal, Spider Monkey, Baboon, Meerkat and lot’s of fishes.

Now it's the end of the trip we all left the zoo and hopped onto the bus. I felt like the zoo trip was in a blink of an eye. We all go into our classes. We are now waiting for the bell to ring. The bell rang we all go home to rest.
